International transfer of technology - effects for developing countries

Abstract

The Agreement on Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights Related to Trade (TRIPs) is the most important international instrument on intellectual property. Among its objectives, it was established that the protection and enforcement of intellectual property rules should encourage the transfer and diffusion of technology. Analyzed in this paper really this goal has been achieved and what the effects of technology transfer to developing countries. The general aspects and the history of technology transfer were presented in international organizations such as the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and its regulations under the World Trade Organization (WTO), highlighting the provisions of TRIPS and the Doha Ministerial Declaration on this subject. It was used as methodology the bibliographical research by reviewing the doctrine articles on the subject published in magazines and professional journals, as well as access to electronic means of information (internet).
