Analysis of the results of the Institutional Scholarship Programme for Initiation into Intellectual Property at UFS

Abstract

The Coordination of Innovation and Technology Transfer of the Federal University of Sergipe (CINTTEC-UFS) seeks to implement an intellectual property policy through actions covering the registration, licensing and commercialisation of the results of research in technological innovation and the diffusion of the knowledge generated. Quantitative research carried out on the database of the Institutional Programme of Scholarships for Initiation in Technological Development and Innovation (PIBITI) showed that the activities developed by the Coordination must meet the demands specified by each field of knowledge: the dissemination of distance learning courses in intellectual property; the organisation of round tables with experts from each field of knowledge at the Meeting of Initiation in Technological Development and Innovation (EIDTI); workshops with entrepreneurs for the presentation of their demands for categorised technological solutions; and the invitation to researchers to bring results to the market through disclosure in the portfolio of patents and registrations filed with the National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI). Among other actions defined by field of knowledge that may favour the intellectual protection resulting from PIBITI-UFS is the offer of courses on patent drafting and prior art searching in national and worldwide patent databases.
