The right to health and public health policies for smart cities

Abstract

This report addresses the crisis of health care models and the health rights, after the urbanization of the planetary population in the 20th century. It proposes strategies applicable in smart cities to guarantee this right. It adopts the qualitative research method to approach the topic, based on literature and law, and presents a proposal for practical application. It argues that the guarantee of the health rights permeates the combination of processes, technologies and healthcare personnel, in its multiple aspects. These aspects include health promotion and primary prevention, secondary prevention such as early diagnosis and treatment, early rehabilitation of severe cases, and finally, life quality improvement for those unable to reach full recovery.
