Access to health: the relationship between medical innovation, intellectual property and trade policies

The objective of this research is to show cohesively the elements of the intellectual property protection system and its role in accessing medical innovations, through the study of trade policies, seeking to highlight the importance (or not) of these policies for the access to technological innovations. According to this, the research will describe the relationship between the areas of public health, intellectual property and trade policy. The importance of the theme proposed here arises from the growing and visible need, especially in developing countries, for better informed policymaking in areas of intersection between health, trade and intellectual property, with emphasis on access to medicines and other medical technologies and innovation in this field.
