Prospects for infrastructure cooperation in the Southern Cone: public-private partnership and its role in air cargo logistics development

This study aims to present new prospects for cooperation in infrastructure for logistics development of freight transport in the Southern Cone, focusing on air cargo transportation. We start from an interpretation that considers Brazil as a possible leader and soon responsible for a cooperation project in the macro-selected region, thus our understanding is from the Brazilian reality in relation to the other actors involved. The choice to emphasize the air cargo transport is justified by the fact that it presents itself as a strategic modal for its efficiency and agility. This leads to increased competitiveness for various productive sectors of the countries that are part of the selected macro-region. The role of public-private partnerships is to enable the high investments that the industry demands since it is expensive and often unaffordable for governments to finance certain types of large projects themselves. The contribution of this work is to highlight the importance of Public-Private Partnership as a theme to be more explored by the International Relations field, and also for international relations and regional cooperation agenda between governments and other actors of society.
